All types of gellack, gel or acrylic have the potential to cause allergies if not used by trained professionals. This is well known by all professional nail salons and manufacturers, and is taught in the basic Nail Therapist classes. Despite this, some Nail Therapists do develop allergies because they do not work in a safe way. None of these products should be sold to the public. Unfortunately the law is weak in the area. The risk of developing an allergy is thankfully low, but the human body is such that some people can be more sensitive and develop allergies faster than others. When you place such a product in the public market, there are so many thousands of users that it is no surprise that such problems occur in greater numbers. If you do get gellack on your skin, remove it immediately with a cotton will ball and the remover liquid. Then thoroughly wash your hands several times. It is a great shame that because of some manufacturers greed, the reputation of gellack has been damaged. I repeat, the product is perfectly safe if used by a trained professional and is no more likely to cause an allergy than many home cleaning products.
